Training

During the early part of next year the club will organise the following courses if there are sufficient applicants. In all cases we need 12 to 15 to make them financially acceptable.

FIRST AID FOR YACHTSMEN You need this certificate in order to obtain the Yachtmaster Practical certificate. It is also a good idea for more than one person on board a boat to be a "first aider". if you got a certificate a number of years ago then bear in mind that it may need up-dating.

GMDSS/VHF This course enables you to use a VHF radio set, including the GMDSS part. If you have a "VHF restricted operators" licence, then this course will update it in order for you to use the GMDSS part of a modern radio. Certificate also needed by Yachtmaster candidates.

SEA SURVIVAL find out how and when to take to the liferaft, how to cope with life in a raft and how best to survive in a number of nasty situations. A practical session, complete with liferafts, is part of the day's fun. Don't worry - it is an indoors swimming pooi. If you want more details and/or to register interest then please let me know.
