Editors columnWell we've had a wonderful summer and I hope you have all had the opportunity to enjoy some excellent sailing. The main club event was the BBQ at Yarmouth, which was very well attended by nine boats and crew. It was good to see friends and families enjoying the weekend. Thanks go to Colin and Sandi for organising it. A mid-week cruise took place last week with Layla and crew enjoying an uncrowded Solent. Thanks to Kath and Chris. Some boats have ventured farther afield this year. Graham Hughes and friends visited the Isles of Scilly on Eliona, and Fizzgig, Lucrece and Summer Song with various club members spent three weeks sailing to Holland and exploring some of the inland waterways. This issue of the Log has only one sailing report - I think we have all been having so much fun on the water this summer that we haven't had time to put pen to paper or fingers to key board. Please let me have some articles about your summer exploits in time for the next Log in November. Thanks. Pam Wyatt YOUR CHANCE TO WIN A YEAR'S FREE CLUB MEMBERSHIP Our next club event on 1 October at Spooners is the AGM and your committee is hoping to see a good turnout for this occasion (the official Notice of AGM and agenda will be sent out under separate cover). This is a very informal event: the official business takes up comparatively little time and the Any Other Business item on the agenda is a good opportunity for members to put their views across on how they would like to see the club growing and developing. And, if you need any further incentive, this year all members present at the AGM will have the chance to win free club membership for the forthcoming year. Put the date in your diary now and come along and have your say! Club Apparel The club is able to order a large range of leisurewear embroidered with the club logo and a boat name if required. I will be placing another order shortly and have included an order form in this issue of the Log. |
