Commodore's Report

I hope you had a good festive season and are looking forward to some great ASC events in 2004. Please be aware that if you have not yet renewed your membership, you will not know what you are missing, as this will be YOUR LAST NEWSLETTER

As I ran out of space in the previous issue I'll deal with some points from the AGM now. The committee thank Gerry Raby for his help over the last three years and appreciate his ongoing work on the Club website. Go and have a look, it is well worth it, the address is at the front of this newsletter.

We welcome John Taylor and Keith Sinden as new members of the committee. John has agreed to look after our publicity and may have managed to get an item into the next issue of Sailing Today! Keith has been busy finding his way around an 80 page "club manual" issued by the RYA. We will let you know if there is anything of importance to us in it.

Over the last year we have grown from 65 to 90 members. As far as boats are concerned, we could just about accommodate all members if everybody decided to go sailing at the same time.

On the social side, Kath Rayner, has organised a bowls evening at Dunnings on Wednesday 5th May. If anyone has any experience then please make yourself known to Kath. The rest of us can have a go, are we allowed to tack balls down the green???

Our sailing events last year were extremely varied. Well supported were the November weekend (36 members on 8 boats) and the barbecue weekend (29 on 9) while at the other extreme there were a couple of weekends when we struggled to crew one or two boats.

Hope to see you on the water soon

John
