Firstly - thank you to Pam for supplying me with all the necessary information to produce this. I hope she is enjoying the rest. Secondly - as you will see the response to my SOS was excellent. Thank you so much. I even have possibilities for the next log - but keep sending your articles in! Thirdly - thank you to Ian who has helped me with the computer skills. Happy reading and sailing Jean Sandell Commodore's Report This is the first issue of our newsletter produced by Jean so thanks to her for taking on this task. Inside the front cover you will find details of how to get items for the newsletter to Jean. Please try to help by submitting copy as opposed to us having to chase it. A great many thanks to Pam for a good job on the newsletter over the past three and a half years. Back in April I suggested that the Easter weekend (25 people on 7 boats) could be the start of a good season. Having been looking at the records I can confirm that it has been good. 71 members and guests have sailed while 16 different boats have accommodated them. While we realize that after sending in an application form, it is sometimes necessary to cancel, it would help the organizer if this could be done sooner rather than later. Currently we often do not find out until the applicant is contacted just before the event. By the time you read this, the main part of the sailing season will be over. Don't worry, we have a number of opportunities, both social and sailing, to help you get through the winter doldrums. Between now and Christmas there is a walk organized by Nigel, YOUR AGM ( 5th Oct) and the Christmas dinner by Doh. The first two are advertised elsewhere in this newsletter and the dinner date is worth putting in your diary. Oops, I nearly forgot winter sailing. We do sail through the winter when it can be brilliant or b-----, come and give it a try. Enjoy the autumn and I look forward to seeing you somewhere soon. John |
